There are miles of trails in the Portuguese Bend Nature Preserve. A pine covered knoll named by the locals as Eagles Nest overlooks Portuguese Bend on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Patterns of colors in the ocean along the shore are caused from daily rip tides that churn up the sandy bottom.
