Sierra Footbridge
Mammoth, California
24 x 32, oil on canvas mounted on board

One cannot walk the shore of Twinlakes without being beckoned to walk across the old log footbridge. I can't visit the lake without being compelled to paint it either.

My sketches for this painting were created on a cold morning in late November. A blanket of snow had already covered the Sierra's from the season's first heavy storms. By now, Twinlakes was nearly frozen over except for the little creek connecting the two lakes together. Cross country skiers were enjoying the fresh snow and traversing the trails around the lake as my friends and I delighted in painting the winter landscape.
