A Rainy Day in Sycamore Canyon
9 x 12, oil

It was the middle of winter when I was able to get away and go up the coast to Malibu for a couple of days of painting. Only thing was that the weather was a little rainy. The light rain had darkened the bark of the trees and was creating a light gray atmosphere that I wanted to capture. So, in my rain poncho and under an umbrella I began to paint. The out come is this painting that captures the mood of the sycamores with their rich colors of the rain soaked bark and the light grays from the misty rain.
