Passing Storm Clouds
24 X 32, oil on canvas on board
private collection
| The ground is still damp from the morning rain and showers can be seen in the distance over Catalina Island. As the Storm clouds begin to part they let through the sun light that creates patterns of bright silver over the ocean. The reefs of basalt rock that extend off Portuguese Point are close to the foreground. The landscape that is usually dry brown brush and grasses has been transformed into rich greens from the winter rains. My objective was to capture the moods and spirit of an unspoiled cove through my paintings. Abalone Cove became the theme for a show by the Portuguese Bend Artists Colony in an effort to stop the city of Rancho Palos Verdes from further development within this park and to pass on the beauty of the Palos Verdes Peninsula to future generations through our paintings. |
